Involving students in the Mother Tongue book Project is a rich, interdisciplinary task. It can be very rewarding and as in depth or as simple as you want to make it. Originally I taught this as a four lesson unit but have condensed it down to two. I also taught it as an Art/Science/ Social Awareness unit but it be used to study anything from history to geography to creative writing. It is a chance for students to become the experts and pass that expertise onto other students.
